Annandale, VA (May 1 2008) – Occam Solutions, Inc recently participated in the Small Business Administration’s 2008 SBA Week. The nation’s top entrepreneurs were hailed for their accomplishments at the events April 21-25, 2008, in Washington, D.C., and New York City. National Small Business Week 2008 began with three days of events in Washington, D.C., at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, where more than 100 outstanding business owners from across the country were recognized. In addition to the State Small Business Persons of the Year, men and women involved in disaster recovery, government procurement, small business champions as well as SBA partners in financial and entrepreneurial development were honored. The 2008 event marked the 55th anniversary of the agency, and the 45th annual proclamation of Small Business Week.
“Small businesses drive our economy, creating jobs and opportunities for Americans in every community across the country,” said SBA Administrator Steve Preston. “The SBA is very proud of the vital role it plays in enabling America’s entrepreneurs, and we are excited to be able to recognize a few of these great success stories during the week.”
A focal point of the 2008 SBA Week was a series of executive panel forums on Health Care, International Trade, Energy, and Finance. In addition, there was a procurement session with corporate buyers and prime contractors who discussed how small businesses can partner with large companies. Daniel Chun, President of Occam Solutions, Inc was a speaker at the procurement session and commented “It is always an honor when you receive an opportunity to speak at a gathering of your peers. I’m very thankful for the chance to do this and look forward to next year’s conference”. Mr. Chun was joined by LTG (ret) David Ohle, a representative from Occam’s Mentor firm CSC as part of the DoD’s Mentor–Protégé program. The forum was moderated by the editor of Washington Technology, Mr. Nick Wakeman and was well received by the conference attendees.
